Role Overview:
JNS is seeking a full-time Senior Development Writer for our Development Team. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, you’ll develop clear and impactful communications that effectively convey the mission, impact, and value proposition of JNS to potential donors and supporters. This includes creating letters of interest, proposals, presentations, reports, case studies and donor engagement materials to support our fundraising initiatives. You will work closely across teams and stakeholders to gather information, research, and submit funding proposals within grant guidelines and deadlines.

The ideal candidate must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and previous experience engaging effectively with senior managers, researchers, and program level staff during the proposal design, development, and review phases. Proven organization and time management skills and the ability to work independently are crucial as well as demonstrating solid analytical and advanced writing and comprehension skills.

What You'll be Doing:
- Creating and maintaining donor-facing materials, including reports, grant requests, presentations, impact reports, case studies, board communications, and providing ongoing updates to institutional and top funders.
- Continually refining and updating JNS' case for giving to ensure its currency and power.
Integrating JNS strategy and goals into donor-facing materials to underscore the organization's focus and discipline.
- Incorporating reports for donors that showcase the organization's impact and growth.
- Working closely with relevant staff to ensure effective targeting of current and potential funders.
- Researching and staying abreast of industry trends, best practices, and successful fundraising strategies to inform content creation.
- Overseeing grant reporting schedule to ensure all projects meet deadlines and metric requirements; including collecting data needed for reports from our in-house data analyst and other internal departments, and creating narratives with the data.

Requirements

What You Have:
- 7+ years of proven experience in proposal writing, grant writing, donor presentations, and mid-year/end of year reporting to grant makers with a strong portfolio of successful fundraising campaigns and donor materials.
- Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences and platforms.
- Native English Speaker
- Bachelor's degree
- Ability to think outside the box and produce quality content for fundraising purposes, in an efficient and timely manner
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of fundraising best practices and an understanding of donor motivations and behaviors.
- Strong research skills and the ability to translate complex information into compelling and accessible content.
- Ability to work flexible hours if needed
- Familiarity with the Global/American Jewish Communities is a plus.
