How many relevant years experience do you require for the role:
More than 3 years

Some years ago, as a tiny group of developers got ready to launch their first mobile app, they were appalled to discover that (unlike the world of web they were accustomed to), the app stores were black boxes of dataless misery. Refusing to accept a world in which app developers were forced to make ill-informed decisions, said developers decided to rectify the situation.

And so began 4+ years of developing solutions for the unoptimized areas of life. Our R&D team is not, and will never be, a group of people sitting alone in a basement maintaining a system. The majority of products we’ve developed have come from one of our devs hearing about a challenge either from our clients or our internal teams, and knowing they had the ability to solve it.

R&D at StoreMaven is defined by creation, not upkeep. Each member of the team must be willing to create products from scratch, to work from the spec level and bring them to conception and beyond. Basically, if you’re not innovating you’re wasting time and probably will be replaced by a machine sometime soon anyway.

Our products focus on Scale, Big Data, Machine Learning, among other buzzy topics and are in desperate need of more brilliant people to push the boundaries further than we could ever imagine.

StoreMaven is a start-up, both in size and in mentality. You need to be incredibly independent and self-motivated, and want to work for a company that is yours, not just the place where you clock in and clock out. We aim to stay lean to maintain our haven of close-knit, creative, independent, brilliant overachiever-y types, which has allowed us to remain bootstrapped and profitable while still constantly innovating and growing.

We don’t do well with massive egos or hierarchy. We all learn a great deal from each other regardless of title, department, age, or experience.

We love what we do, which makes it a whole lot easier to excel—Mavens don’t quit, don’t give up, don’t accept mediocrity in themselves or others. If you want to be passionate about what you do and be proud of things you create… keep reading.

Now here’s where you fit in
The R&D team is the largest team in the company, and we’re looking for a versatile developer with sick problem-solving skills. Someone with an uncanny attention to detail and who isn’t afraid of getting into new technologies.

We work with the top mobile app developers in the world such as Facebook, Google, Disney, Yahoo, and Zynga.

Sound sexy? Keep reading!

Day-to-day you will:
- Create a polished and consistent front-end user experience across all devices/platforms
- Solve tricky web development problems and hack new products
- Participate in front-end technology decisions
- Quickly generate prototypes from UI concepts
- Embrace and promote best practices in order to create maintainable, high-performing web applications
- Work closely with UX designers, project managers, and back-end engineers to implement versatile front-end solutions

What’s in it for you?
Working for a start-up means you get to “get your hands dirty” and learn anything about everything—whether you want a better understanding of product management, biz dev, data sets, or building a company from the ground up, any of the Mavens are happy to help you out in their areas of expertise.

You also get to work with the best of the best companies in the world and learn about their business and structure. You will be able to concretely see your contributions and the impact of your work, both internally and externally.

And you will join the Maven family. We’re obsessed with each other. We would do anything for each other. We embody the ethos of work hard, play hard. We meet each other’s families, walk each other’s dogs, and at least once a month go out and eat, drink, and laugh ’til it hurts. We don’t have “work personalities” and “real life personalities”—we’re genuine to a fault and we embrace your weirdness.
